তুমি যদি জগৎজোড়া
আমি কি জগৎছাড়া
তুমি যদি দুঃখহরা
আমি কেন দুঃখে ভরা
সুখ চাই নাকো শান্তি যে চাই
বরদান নহে কৃপা যেন পাই
(চাই) মাথা গোঁজার ছোট্ট চালা
চাই না মোতির মালা
আমি চাই না বদ্ধ কারা
তুমি মহৎ আমি ক্ষুদ্র
আমি তুষার তুমি রুদ্র

Translation
If to the world You are coupled,
Am I outside Your universe?
If You are suffering's overthrow,
Why then am I filled with sorrow?
I don't want worldly pleasure, what I want is peace;
No boon is granted if such mercy I receive.
I need just a tiny hut wherein to lay my head...
A string of pearls I don't request,
But I reject a pent-up prison cell.
You are great, and I am small;
A flake of snow am I, and You are my Destroyer.
If my body You should touch,
I'd start to melt, become water;
I wish the Earth colored.
